GMDA leads deep anti -concentrated operations on the south road.
The Gurgh Metropolitan (GMDA) Development Office has launched a large -scale operation on a scale to destroy the invasion on the south road (SPR). The operation began on January 13, 2025, and aimed to combat illegal construction on a sensitive 12-km stretch between NH-48 and Ghat.
District Town Planner (DTP) R.S. Batth, leading GMDA’s enforcement wing, has spearheaded the five-day operation that has already yielded significant results. Within just two days, the authority successfully reclaimed 22 acres of green belt, removing illegal nurseries, building materials, temporary rooms, shanties, and unauthorized parking spaces.
“This operation represents our commitment to preserving Gurugram’s green spaces and ensuring proper urban development,” stated GMDA CEO Shyamal Misra. The initiative has received strong backing from Environment and Industry Minister Rao Narbir Singh, who emphasizes the importance of maintaining SPR as a clean and green corridor.
The authority has set an ambitious target to clear all 60 acres of encroached green belt along SPR by January 31, 2025. In a forward-looking move, GMDA has already signed Memorandums of Understanding with developers for the future beautification and maintenance of these reclaimed areas.
To ensure long-term success, GMDA officials have announced plans for continuous monitoring to prevent future encroachments. They have also called for public cooperation in maintaining these vital green spaces, which play a crucial role in the city\’s environmental health and urban planning. This enforcement action marks a significant step in GMDA’s ongoing efforts to restore order on one of Gurugram’s major arterial roads, demonstrating the authorities’ commitment to sustainable urban development and environmental conservation.
